Tourist Information

What is the recommended way to get around Singapore?

Singapore has an extensive and efficient public transport system, supplemented by numerous reputable taxi companies. The recommended ways are as follows:

MRT Tourist Pass
The MRT (trains) and buses are the most cost-effective way to travel around Singapore. However, if you plan on making multiple trips in a day, the cost will be rather expensive.
Consider the MRT Tourist Pass if you intend on making multiple trips in a day. The MRT Tourist Pass covers all train rides and most bus rides within the validity period of the pass (This is especially useful if you are going to further away attractions like the Singapore Zoo or the Jurong Bird Park). Also, there are discounts available at certain attractions if you present your MRT Tourist pass.

To refer to a comprehensive map which includes all the MRT Lines, please click here. Alternatively, you can find hardcopy maps on display at all MRT Stations.

City Sightseeing Buses (Hop on Hop off Bus)
You get to enjoy unlimited rides on the Yellow, Red and Green Lines within the validity period of your ticket.
Please feel free to consult your hostel’s reception for more information regarding the routes and our discounted rates.
For the route map, please click here.

Why should I chose the City Sightseeing Bus over public transport?

The buses stop directly outside the major attractions in the area, so you don’t have to worry about finding directions on your own. In addition, commentaries are available in multiple languages, therefore, it is more like a guided tour than just a regular bus trip to get to your destination.

Where are the nearest City Sightseeing Bus stops to our hostel?

Project Chinatown: Along Eu Tong Sen Road.

Project Ann Siang: Along South Bridge Road, Opposite Sri Mariammam Temple.

Project Boat Quay: Along South Bridge Road, opposite Hong Kong Street.

Feel free to approach our hostel’s reception for more information.

How often does the Sightseeing Bus come?

As the Sightseeing Bus fleet is large, you can expect the frequency of the buses to be approximately 15 mins.

For a detailed schedule of the buses, please click here.

Where can I get maps?

We provide city maps at all of our hostels’ reception area. Please feel free to take what you need, or approach our hostel crew at the reception if you require any assistance.

I am heading to Malaysia by Bus. Where can I find a schedule for Bus Departures?

For information on the schedule of buses, please click here.

You will be able to find the schedule for various bus companies to different places in Malaysia, such as Kuala Lumpur or Malacca.

Alternatively, you can input your desired time of departure into any booking portals and the available services and timings will be displayed.

Where do I claim my GST Refund?

Tax Refund can only be claimed if you are leaving by:

Air
Changi Airport – All terminals before and after immigration
Seletar Airport

Sea
International Passenger Terminal at Harbourfront
Marina Bay Cruise Centre

I need to find a certain bank in order to withdraw my cash. Can you help me?

The details of some foreign banks can be found here.
For directions to specific banks which are not listed in the link, please feel free to consult our hostel crew at the reception for any assistance required.

For shopping districts that are more budget-friendly, you can try places like Bugis Street for apparels or Sim Lim Square for electronic goods. Please approach our hostel crew at the reception for more details and recommendations.

Alternatively, there is a flea market at China Square every Sunday, which is a stone’s throw away from our hostels in Chinatown.

Can I visit the islands outlying Singapore? (other than Sentosa)

Definitely. The outlying islands make an excellent day trip if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a more scenic experience.

The Pulau Ubin island is one example which features a glimpse of Singapore’s rustic past as well as the beauty of natural rainforests. Renting bicycles to explore the island is a popular choice.

For the adventure seekers, there is a Mountain Biking Park suitable for all skill levels.

Also, the Sisters Islands will make an interesting destination, as many locals have also not explored the islands as well. Known as Singapore’s first Marine Park, popular activities to do include dive trails, inter tidal guided tours, snorkelling and etc.
